Kathryn Elaine “Kathy” Long

Kathryn Elaine “Kathy” Long, 74, of Curwensville, passed away Tuesday May 4, 2021, at her residence.

Born October 10, 1946, in Glen Richey, she was the daughter of Harry William and Hazel Irene (Read) Proud. Kathy had been a secretary for Soult Wholesale in Clearfield and retired after 42 years of service.

She had attended Penn State University, Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania (Lock Haven State College), and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania (Clarion State College).

She was a member of the Glen Richey Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Curwensville Business and Professional Women’s Club, and was also a member of the GFWC Woman’s Club of Curwensville where she had served as President several times and had also served the club in numerous capacities.

On September 25, 1965, in the Oak Ridge Union Church, she wed Larry A. Long who survives, along with two children, Jeffrey A. Long and wife Candace of Stone Ridge, VA and Jennifer McLaughlin and husband George “GT” of Tyner, NC. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Brittany Jantanen and husband Taylor, Charlotte Long, Jocelyn Long and Caroline Long; as well as a brother Edward H. Proud and wife Kathie of Clearfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral Services for Kathy Long will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Tuesday May 11, 2021, at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Leeanne Peters officiating.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until time of services at 2:00 PM.
