Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision on Route 19

GREENWOOD TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A motorcyclist was life-flighted from a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Thursday afternoon on US Highway 19.

According to Meadville-based State Police, the accident occurred around 4:47 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, involving 51-year-old Douglas A. Johnson, of Meadville, and 57-year-old Scott G. Abbott, of Cochranton.

Police say this crash occurred as a 1994 Ford F-150XLT pickup, driven by Abbott was stopped in the traffic lane on US Highway 19, just north of State Highway 285, in Greenwood Township, Crawford County, waiting for traffic to clear to turn left into the Geneva Fast Stop. A 1987 Harley-Davidson Heritage Soft Tail operated by Johnson was traveling south on US Highway 19 approaching the pickup. The motorcycle rear-ended the pickup, causing serious injuries to Johnson. He was not wearing a helmet.

Johnson was flown to UPMC Hamot by STAT MedEvac for treatment of head injuries.

Abbott was using a seat belt and was not injured.

The motorcycle was towed from the scene by Leonard’s Towing.

The Ford pickup was able to be driven from the scene.

State police were assisted at the scene by Cochranton VFD, Conneaut Lake Ambulance, STAT MedEvac, and Leonard’s Towing.
