Charges Pending Against Area Man Accused of Theft of $15K in Jefferson County

WINSLOW TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say charges are pending against an area man accused of taking a $15,000 payment for materials for building a swimming pool and then never ordering or providing the materials.

On July 22, DuBois-based State Police initiated an investigation into a report of a theft by deception.

Police say a known 57-year-old male victim from Reynoldsville reported he had paid 42-year-old Jarrod Rees, of Clearfield, $15,000.00 in May to provide him with material for a swimming pool.

The victim told police Rees still hadn’t provided him with any materials, so he had requested a refund.

The victim reported Rees said he had spent the $15,000.00 he had been given for the material. The victim then contacted the company the pool materials were ordered from and discovered Rees never gave them the money for the material.

Police say charges are pending through District Court 46-3-01.
