Venango County Man Accused of Assaulting Woman, Threatening Her With Firearm

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Criminal charges have been filed against a Franklin man who is accused of grabbing and hitting a woman and threatening her with a firearm.

Court documents indicate the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 31-year-old Robert Michael Myers.

According to a criminal complaint, on July 15, a known female victim reported she had been abused by Robert Myers and asked to speak with an officer about a Protection From Abuse (PFA) order. She then filled out a Domestic Violence Lethality Assessment Screening and was assessed as high risk based on her answers and subsequently had an emergency PFA granted.

During a follow-up interview, she reported that Myers assaulted her on May 30 and she had gone to the hospital for her injuries. She was then able to provide a medical report, as well as photos of the injuries.

According to the complaint, the photographs showed injuries to the lower section of her back which she stated were from where Myers had knocked her down and shoved her. The photos also showed marks under her arm at her armpit where she reported Myers grabbed her.

There were also marks on the sides of the victim’s neck where she stated that Myers grabbed her on another occasion and held her in a closet by her neck. It was reported that Myers also pushed her into a closet and was throwing things at her, according to the complaint.

The victim told police Myers also picked up a pole and threatened to hit her with it. She reported he didn’t hit her with the pole, but did hit her with his hands.

She also stated he threatened her with a firearm in the house, according to the complaint.

The following charges were filed against Myers through Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office on August 2:

– Terroristic Threats With Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
– Harassment – Communicate Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language, Misdemeanor 3
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on September 1, with Judge Lowrey presiding.
