Man Accused of Throwing Woman’s Dentures in Fireplace, Threatening Her with Rifle

CORNPLANTER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Charges have been filed against an Oil City man who allegedly threw a woman’s dentures in a fireplace and then threatened her with a rifle during a dispute in Cornplanter Township.

Court documents indicate the Franklin-based State Police filed criminal charges against 49-year-old John W. Truchok, of Oil City.

According to a criminal complaint, around 9:53 a.m. on November 30, Franklin-based State Police were dispatched to a residence on Grandview Road for a report of an active domestic incident in progress involving a weapon.

The complaint indicates a known victim reported that John Truchok had pulled a gun on her and she had fled to a neighbor’s residence to call police.

At the scene, police hailed Truchok through the patrol vehicle’s PA system telling him to come out of the residence. Truchok reportedly complied and was immediately detained.

When questioned about any firearms in the residence, Truchok reportedly told police there was a 30-30 rifle in the house. The troopers subsequently observed a rifle in plain view in the living room of the residence.

The complaint states the victim was then located hiding under the porch of a neighboring residence.

According to the complaint, when interviewed, the victim told police that she and Truchok had gotten into an argument and Truchok had grabbed her dentures from her mouth and threw them in the fireplace. The victim reported Truchok then pulled a “long brown gun” and told her “don’t think I won’t (expletive) do this.” The victim told police she asked Truchok to stop, and he responded “(expletive) watch me!”

The victim reported she then took off running for the neighbor’s residence because she was frightened for her life. She used the neighbor’s phone to contact 9-1-1 and hid until police arrived at the scene.

The complaint notes further investigation found Truchok previously pleaded guilty to a felony in 1992 and based on the conviction was prohibited from possessing a firearm.

According to the complaint, while being questioned, Truchok also later admitted there “may be” a .410 gauge shotgun in the residence, as well.

Truchok was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish at 3:30 p.m. on November 30, on the following charges:

– Possession Of Firearm Prohibited, Felony 2
– Terroristic Threats With Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

He was lodged in the Venango County Jail with bail denied due to being a threat to the victim, according to the court documents.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on December 8, with Judge Fish presiding.
