Gary L. Smith (71) of Bennets Valley Highway, Penfield, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at home.
Born Friday, February 16, 1951 in KnoxDale, PA, he was the son of the late Blair A. Smith and Mabel Rebecca Kramer.
Early in his life he worked for Brookville Wood Products and drove truck for various coal and lumber companies until he became disabled.
Gary loved people, and was a friend to all, telling stories and talking to anyone he would meet whether a stranger, or a friend.
He loved Elvis, singing karaoke anywhere, and everywhere he could, but most of all, it was his children and grandchildren that he cherished the most and loved spending time with them every chance he had.
He is survived by 5 children – Crystal Roberts (husband Ken) of Pittsburgh, PA, Brandon Smith (wife Brittany) of Fall Creek, PA, Adam Smith of Penfield, PA, Rebecca Smith of DuBois, PA, and Bridget Smith of Brookville, PA; 1 Sister – Rose Boozer of Greenville, PA; 13 Grandchildren – Megan, Karilee, Kai, Abigail, Emilie, Dorien, Taylar, Alaura, Quenton, Wyatt, Nathan, Aiden, and Noah; and 2 Great-Grandchildren – Levi and Adalee.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Daughter – Jesse E. Smith, 2 Brothers – Martin and Robert Smith, and 1 Sister – Emma Sowers.
Upon request of the family a private celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a later date with the Rev. Ken Eddy presiding and in his memory those who wish to make a memorial donation, the family would appreciate they go to the donor’s choice.
