Valerie Ann Tokash

Valerie Ann Tokash, 66, of Big Run, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Penn Highlands DuBois.

She was born in Spangler on August 29, 1955, a daughter of the late Charles Guy Kuntz and Nancy Ann (Billings) Kuntz.

On August 3, 1974, she married her best friend, Theodore Charles “Chuck” Tokash.

They enjoyed forty-seven years of marriage and raised a son that was their pride and joy.

Val and Chuck were always there for one another.

They worked side by side and built their home from the foundation up, together they made a house a home.

Traveling was a favorite enjoyment for both of them, they visited nearly every state over the years.

Val previously worked at Loree Footwear, Standard Pennant and lastly as the parts delivery person at Advance Auto prior to her retirement.

Val loved to take pictures of everyone and everything over the years.

Chuck lovingly called her the “Kodak Lady”.

She took photos, documented on the back and stored them in many, many albums.

Val was the glue of her immediate family, she was the tie that bound her family, brothers and sisters together over the years.

She was a member of the Big Run Beta Sorority, she enjoyed giving of her time and resources to make small differences towards the greater good of the Big Run community.

In addition to her husband Chuck, she is survived by her beloved son, Justin Tokash and wife Elizabeth of Oakridge, Tennessee; two sisters, Vanessa Kuntz and Tom Kaizer of Big Run, and Pam Smith and husband Bobby of Falling Waters, West Virginia; three brothers, Howard Kuntz of Independence, Missouri, Rick Kuntz of Sykesville and Jeff Kuntz of Stump Creek; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

In accordance with Val’s wishes, arrangements are private and under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

Her ashes will be interred at McClure Cemetery, Big Run.
