Lois R. Grube

Lois R. Grube, 93, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Laurel Brooke Landing in Brookville.

Born July 26, 1928, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late David H. and Myrtle N. (Sloppy) Reiter.

After graduating from the Big Run High School, she worked as a Bell Telephone operator in Philadelphia and Punxsutawney until her marriage to Robert D. Grube on Aug. 16, 1952.

Following her husband’s death in 1977, she became the owner of BFG Electroplating, Inc. and the Grube Apartments, and worked in the family businesses until her retirement.

Lois was a member of the First Methodist Church, Punxsutawney.

She will be remembered for her love of family, extraordinary cooking abilities, sense of humor, and feistiness – persevering through years of rheumatoid arthritis.

Survivors include two children, son Jeffrey D. Grube and wife Ruth of Punxsutawney, and daughter Minta Marie and husband Frank of Hamburg, New York; five grandchildren, Matthew Marie, Todd Marie, Michael Grube and wife Courtney, Alan Marie and fiancé Courtni Bowers, and Melissa Means and husband Kyle; and three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Means, Benjamin Grube and Samantha Means.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Lloyd, Robert, Harold, Lavelle, Charles and Clifton Reiter; one sister, Lucille Munro; and one great-grandson, John Grube.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., immediately following visitation.

Burial will be held at a later date in a private ceremony at Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
