Mary Margaret (Kirk) Federici

Our beloved mother, Mary Margaret (Kirk) Federici, 97, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, peacefully passed away 9/8/2022 at home after a long, brave bout with breast cancer.

She was born in Brady Township on 8/1/1925 to Wilbur and Olive (Nolder) Kirk.

After graduating from Brady Township High School she moved to DuBois, PA.

While working at Dairy Queen, she met her husband, Rudolph Federici home on leave from the Navy.

They were married 11/27/1945 for 63 years and had four children: Peggy Diane “Sis” Federici and Barb Blackwell of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Cathy Federici (deceased), Rudy Federici of Missoula, MT.

As a homemaker, wife, mother, Mary Margaret and her family lived in PA and OH where Rudolph was a high school teacher/coach.

After her children were raised she worked at Penny’s and was so proud to be promoted to store manager with only a high school education.

After retirement from Penny’s she became her husband’s full-time caregiver and moved West to Post Falls, Idaho to be closer to their children.

Finally in 1997 she decided to leave dreary, cold, snowy Idaho and moved to Arizona.

She loved the desert climate and said it was never too hot for her even when over 120 degrees!

She spent many days relaxing on her back patio swing watching the beautiful sunsets over the lake and mountains.

She was preceded in death by her parents Olive and Wilbur, her daughter Cathy and husband Rudolph, brother Kenneth Kirk & sister-in-law Leona (Thunberg) Kirk, sister Lillian (Kirk) Swartzlander & brother-in-law Joseph Swartzlander, Sister-in-law Mary Alice (Titel) Kirk, and son-in-law Kenneth Blackwell.

In addition to two daughters, Sis and Barb, son Rudy and daughter-in-law Carla, she is survived by her sisters Lorena and Alice Kirk of Luthersburg, PA, brother Harold Kirk of Dubois, PA and numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as extended family members and friends.

She was eternally optimistic which helped her stay active and happy during her life.

When asked what helped her live so long, she said, “No alcohol and having a husband who provided for our family.”

She will be missed and loved more than words can ever say – never to be forgotten living on in our hearts. “We love and miss you Mom!”
