Richard “Dick” G. Dillman

Richard “Dick” G. Dillman, 87, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023, in the comfort of his home with his wife and daughter by his side.

He was born on May 16, 1935, to the late James A. and Minnie E. (Woodring) Dillman in Brookville.

Dick married the love of his life, Peggy L. Limley on January 17, 1960, in Brookville; Peggy survives him.

Dick graduated from Brookville Area High School with the Class of 1953.

While he was in high school, Dick played the trombone in what was probably the last of church orchestras, this one at the Brookville Methodist Church.

Upon graduation, Dick attended the Naval School of Music in Washington, D.C. and spent the remaining years of his enlistment as a United States Navy Musician, playing the trombone in U.S. Navy Bands.

He attended Indiana State Teachers College (IUP) for his Bachelors in Education in 1953.

Dick continued his education to receive his MMEd at Duquesne University in 1963 and his Masters of Library Science at the University of Pittsburgh in 1966.

He worked as a music teacher at Franklin Borough in Johnstown and Evans City High School.

For the majority of his working career, he worked as a librarian at many universities including Penn State DuBois, Slippery Rock University, Lock Haven University, Clarion University, and the Clarion District Library Association.

In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by one daughter; Pamela (Walter) Karg; and two grandchildren: Brady J. Karg and Abrianna “Abby” R. Karg.

Dick was the last surviving member of his family and is preceded in passing by one brother; James P. Dillman; and four sisters; Betty Warnick; Edith Hilliard; Carolyn “Caddy” Hice; and Ruth C. Steele.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, from 10am to 12pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825.

A funeral service will be held immediately following the viewing beginning at 12pm and officiated by Pastor Stanley Bhasker.

Interment will take place at Brookville Cemetery, Brookville, Jefferson Co., PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Clarion Forest VNA Hospice, 271 Perkins Rd., Clarion, PA 16214, the Brookville Presbyterian Church, 100 White St., Brookville, PA 15825, or to the Rebecca Arthur Library, 223 Valley St., Brookville, PA 15825.
