Malcolm Richard Goss

Malcolm Richard Goss, 76, of Erie, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023, while a patient at UMPC Hamot in Erie.

Malcolm was born on May 15, 1947, to the late Richard Raymond and Kathryn Louise (Hanson) Goss in Erie.

He graduated from Strong Vincent High School.

Malcolm proudly served in the Air Force as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War where he furthered his education and received a Purple Heart.

Malcolm married Linda Lou Rhodes-VanSteenberg on March 5, 1994, in Brookville, PA; Linda survives him.

He was a lifetime member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and recently a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church both in Erie.

He was also a member of the American Legion.

Malcolm enjoyed helping others and was always ready to lend a hand.

He loved being outdoors, especially walking his dog, Suzy, or playing with his grandkids.

Malcolm enjoyed attending church, listening to music, and going on drives with his wife.

In addition to his wife, Malcolm is survived by three daughters; Melissa (Tom) Goss; Michelle (Alfred) Justka; Heather Sheldon; six siblings; Kathryn (Kurt) Fenstermacher; Ruth (Jeff) Seidl; Kevin (Susan) Goss; Karen (Robert) Shreve; Dale Goss; Norman Chris Goss.

Malcolm is also survived by seven grandchildren; Justin Goss; Leanne Goss; Mark Wertz Jr.; Alyssa Sheldon; Jackson Sheldon; and Zander Sheldon.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 3856 W. 10th Street, Erie, PA 16505, from 11am to 1pm.

A funeral service will be held immediately following the viewing, beginning at 1pm.

Interment will take place on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., PA, where Military Honors will be rendered by the Brookville Area Honor Guard at the graveside beginning at 1pm.
