Wanda Smith

Wanda Smith, 102, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Mulberry Square.

She was born April 22, 1921 to John and Naomi (Crossman) Emhoff in Big Run.

Wanda was a member of the Eastern Star, the Punxsutawney Moose Lodge and the Punxsutawney Elks Lodge.

During her working years she worked at Rolo Jensen, Pramco, and the Salvation Army.

She attended cosmetology school when she was 52.

She then worked with her daughter Kay at Kay Walker’s Beauty Salon for almost 30 years until her retirement in 2004.

She enjoyed dancing, shopping, playing bingo, bowling, and making Christmas candy and crafts.

She was known for her blue eye shadow and high heels.

She is survived by five children, Milford Joe Evans and wife Joy, Louisiana, Patricia Hutmire and husband Glenn, Florida, Kay Walker and husband Henry, Donald Evans, Robert Evans and Kandi, all of Punxsutawney, 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 58 great great grandchildren and 5 great great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is the last surviving member of her family.

She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Milford Evans, Paul Jordan and John Smith.

Four sisters and three brothers.

The service will be private.

Interment will take place at Circle Hill Cemetery.
