Police Identify Couple Who Allegedly Left Child in Hot Car While They Played PA Skills Games

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Authorities have identified and charged a couple who allegedly left their young child in the backseat of a pickup truck in the hot sun “for at least an hour” while they played PA Skills Games in Brookville.

According to a release issued by the Brookville Police Department, the station was alerted to a child lying in a pickup truck at 298 Main Street in Brookville Borough, Jefferson County, around 3:12 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9.

Police say officers arrived on scene to find a child (no age given) lying in the back seat of a hot pickup truck.

The child appeared to be ill and the guardians of the child were found in a nearby PA Skills Game facility, police said.

The child’s guardians were identified as 40-year-old Joshua Faulk and 37-year-old Kayla Renee Wonderling, both of New Bethlehem.

According to bystanders, the vehicle had been sitting in the hot sun with the child inside for at least one hour.

When speaking with the child, he was visibly ill, pale, and stating he had an ear infection. He also stated he “just wanted to go home and lay down,” police said.

According to court documents, Faulk and Wonderling were each charged with the following non-traffic citation in District Judge Gregory Bazylak’s office:

Court officials are awaiting a plea from both individuals.
