WHITE TWP., INDIANA CO., Pa. (EYT) — A cyclist was killed in Indiana County when a small pickup truck crashed into him on Wednesday morning.
According to Indiana-based Pennsylvania State police, the crash occurred on Old Route 119 Highway near the intersection of Chevy Chase Street in White Township at 4:54 a.m. on December 27th.
Police say a 31-year-old North Cambria man was driving a 2015 Ford F-150 XLT southbound when he crashed into the bicycle, also traveling south, in the rear position.
The pickup came to a stop facing south in the center turn lane of the highway. The bicycle came to rest in the southbound lane.
The identity of the 25-year-old male cyclist has not been released.
The driver of the truck was using a seat belt at the time of the accident and was uninjured.
The Pennsylvania State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Service Unit assisted in the investigation.
The State Police were also assisted on-scene by the Indiana County District Attorney’s Office, the Indiana County Coroner’s Office, Citizens’ Ambulance Services, Indiana Fire Company, PennDOT, and Route 119 Towing Company.
The investigation is ongoing.
