John E. “Papkat” Belford

John E. Belford “PapKat”, 68, of Mahaffey, entered into rest on Monday, December 25, 2023 at his home.

He was born March 9, 1955 to James and Helen (Ackerson) Belford in Indiana.

John was a 1973 graduate of Purchase Line High School. He was a member of the Noble Masonic Lodge 480 of Curwensville.

He worked at the Greenwich Colleries until he enlisted in the United States Navy. He spent four years serving his country.

After he was honorably discharged, he went to work at the Shawville Power Plant for 15 years before his retirement in 2015.

After retiring, he worked part time for Curwensville School District and most recently he was working at V.E.C. Energy as a well tender. He enjoyed hunting, visiting with his friends, and working on projects in his garage but most of all he loved spending time and helping his family.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kimberly J. Belford of Mahaffey; a daughter, Nicole Turner of Mahaffey; grandchildren, McKenzie Nixon, Austin Nixon, Wyatt Nixon, Jerry Goho, Erika Lucas, Gracie Wilt; a great grandson, Cameron Goho, EmKat, Tyler, Tessa, Duane, and Ben, who he also considered his extended grandchildren; two brothers, James Belford and wife Susan, Steven Belford and wife Cindy; three sisters-in-law, Kathy Grahm, Patti Barr, Rose Lee and husband Dan; and numerous nieces and nephews; and his favorite cat Kitkat and his dog Skittles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Barbara Misko; and a brother Kenneth Belford.

Friends will be received Saturday from 12 p.m. until the time service at 4 p.m. at the Waldron Funeral Home, 831 Market St., Mahaffey.
