Drugging Suspicion Triggers Violent Stabbing at Slippery Rock Party

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A 23-year-old man has been arrested following a stabbing incident at a party in Slippery Rock Township, according to a public information release report from the Pennsylvania State Police.

Brennan Steeley, 23, of Greensburg, was taken into custody early on January 15, 2024, at 4:19 AM, after the Pennsylvania State Police Butler Patrol Unit responded to a report of a stabbing at The Grove apartments on Harmony Road in Slippery Rock Township, Butler County. Oliver Valera, a 22-year-old man from Slippery Rock, was identified as the victim.

According to the report, Steeley was hosting a party at his apartment, where guests were partaking in marijuana and alcohol usage. After several hours, Steeley accused Valera of attempting to drug everyone at the party and subsequently stabbed him in the neck with a fixed blade knife. The defendant allegedly confronted the victim and accused him of attempting to kill everyone at the party.

Trooper D. Scheerbaum of the Butler Patrol Unit is leading the investigation into the incident. Charges have been filed through District Court 50-3-01.
