Shirley L. Joiner

Shirley L. Joiner, 75, DuBois, passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2024, at her home.

Born April 10, 1948, in Chestnut Grove, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Fay (Hartzfeld) Welder.

On November 5, 1983, she married James L. Joiner in Luthersburg, PA. He survives.

Shirley graduated from Curwensville High School. She was a homemaker. Shirley enjoyed family get-togethers and cookouts, spending time at the casino, and Sunday afternoons watching the Steelers. She attended Shepherd’s Grace Chapel in Falls Creek.

In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by her children, Josh Joiner (Jamie Donaldson), DuBois, Michele (Jeff) Bowser, DuBois, Sheila (Jack) Kotch, Schuyll Haven, Nicole (James) Sellers, Raleigh, NC, and Tammi Joiner-Williams, Fayetteville, NC; an adopted daughter, Cheryl McKinley, Bradford; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren with two more on the way, and a sister, Mary Ellen (Ellie) Welder.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Charles “Chucky” Pettit Nixon, and her siblings, Richard “Dick” Welder, Clifford “Martin” Welder, Clair Welder, Leroy “Jake” Welder, Rosalee Hullihen, and Ruby Welder.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Her ashes will be buried in the Luthersburg-Union Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
