Colleen J. “Cokie” Ahrens

Colleen J. “Cokie” Ahrens, 94, of Oil City, PA, passed away peacefully Sunday March 3, 2024 at Oil City Healthcare and Rehab, after an extended illness.

Born Sept. 7, 1929 in Meadville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence W. Smith and Marian Frances Gable Smith Fox.

Colleen was a 1947 graduate of Rocky Grove High School.

She was married to Donald Paul Ahrens Sr. and he preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1991

Colleen worked many years as a telephone operator at GTE in Franklin and had also worked at Falco’s in Siverly.

She enjoyed doing puzzles, going to the senior center and reading, and was a great cook, who enjoyed cooking meals for her family.

Colleen also enjoyed traveling across the states with her sisters and enjoyed Bible study.

She is survived by two children: Joyce Marie Schattauer and her husband Frederick of Oil City, Donald Paul Ahrens Jr. of Oil City; and grandchildren: Michael, Joseph, and Amy.

She is also survived by sisters Carol Campbell of Ohio, Patricia Lindberg of CA, and Lois Kline of Franklin.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons James Michael Ahrens and Christopher Ahrens, who passed away the same day as his mother, a daughter Deborah Ahrens Roberts and an infant daughter Mary Frances Ahrens.

She was also preceded in death by brothers William, Jerome, Ellwood, Corliss and Keith Smith and sisters Donna Snyder.

Friends will be received from 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. Wednesday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Oil City Health Care and Rehab or to the Oil City Senior Center, Cranberry, PA.
