William A. “Bill” Neely

On March 7, 2024, William A. “Bill” Neely, of Knox, passed away at the age of 92.

Born April 16, 1931, he was the eldest son of the late Joseph A. Neely and Evelyn G. Hartman Neely of Callensburg.

He married the former Patricia A. Etzel on August 17, 1957 and she preceded him in death on May 2, 2022.

Before her death the couple celebrated 70 years together.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman who worked as a forester for some time.

He enjoyed hunting and spending time at his camp at Turnip Hole.

He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Knox and also attended the St. Mark’s Church and Grace Evangelical Congregational Church both of Knox.

Bill was a 32nd Degree Mason at the Edenburg Lodge #550 in Knox.

Survivors include sons, William David Neely of Indiana and Daniel J. Neely of Frederick, Maryland and a daughter, Bonnie Jean McBroom and her husband, Jan, of Derry.

Bill is also survived by a granddaughter, Jessica Lynn of Frederick, Maryland; sister, Merry Gene Bartley, and two brothers, Blake (Kay) Neely and Blane (Heather) Neely.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary E. Neely in 1984 as well as two sisters, Kay Rea and Sandra Jackson.

Per Bill’s wishes, there will be no services.
