John Edward Monahan

John Edward Monahan, 93, of Oil City, PA, passed away Tuesday March 19, 2024 at Sugar Creek Station in Franklin.

Born April 2, 1930 in McKeesport, PA, he was the son of the late John A. and Estella Orlow Monahan.

John Graduated from McKeesport High School.

He served as Sgt. in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

He was married in St. Mary’s Church in McKeesport on June 25, 1960 to the former Elizabeth Maha and she survives.

John had worked for First Sterling and later for Electralloy where he was the supervisor of the Chemistry Lab.

He was a member of the YMCA, and a longtime member of St. Stephen’s Church part of St. Joseph Parish.

He enjoyed fishing with his son, was an avid reader and enjoyed some gardening.

John always enjoyed watching westerns, Pitt basketball and football games and watching the Steelers and Pirates.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: John A.. Monahan and his wife Dorothy of Oil City, Paul J. Monahan and his wife Donna of Chiefland, FL, Edward M. Monahan and his wife Jill of Gibsonia; three grandchildren: Jennifer , Sarah (David Ly) and Amanda.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Jean Kinlough.

Friends will be received from 11:30A.M.-1:30 P.M. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. Friday in St. Joseph Church with Fr. John Miller, Presiding.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
