Ronald P. Delahunty

Ronald P. Delahunty, age 87, formerly of Oil City, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 1, 2024, after a long battle with dementia and a brief illness.

He was surrounded by his wife and children at the time of his passing.

Born on August 25, 1936, he was the last surviving child of James and Edna (Lantz) Delahunty.

On Sept. 14, 1961, Ron married Mary Louise Frawley; they have celebrated 62 years of marriage together.

Ron was dedicated to his faith.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Oil City, PA, and sang in the children’s and adult choirs for 65 years.

Music was Ron’s passion. He was often sought out to be a soloist at weddings, funerals and local churches.

He also participated in Choraliers and Community Playhouse.

On May 6, 1951, he appeared on the Wilkins Amateur Hour, a radio and television program in Pittsburgh.

Ron graduated from Oil City Senior High School in 1956.

Shortly after, he was drafted into the Army serving as an SP4.

Ron was proud to be a veteran and to serve his country.

He volunteered at the Oil City branch of the Butler VA after his retirement.

He loved being able to help other veterans.

Throughout his lifetime, Ron worked at National Fuel Gas, Oil City Hospital, and for the City of Oil City; retiring in 1999.

He enjoyed working at the local skating rink and swimming pool.

Ron is survived by his wife, Mary Lou and his three children, Mark(Teresa) Delahunty of Plum, PA, Dawn (Jack) Aducci of Plum, PA, and Tammy Delahunty of Verona, PA.

Known as Pappy, he is also survived by his three grandchildren, Geno Lopreiato, Amber Delahunty and Matthew Delahunty.

He cherished the time he spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Carl and Dick Delahunty, Barbara Carlson and Constance Myers.

Friends will be received from 4P.M.-7:00P.M. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00P.M. with Rev. Thomas Carr, Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Presiding.

Military Honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
