Ruth S. Blair

Ruth S. Blair, 100, of Franklin, passed away at 10:29 A.M., Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Sugar Creek Station following a sudden decline in health.

Born in Oil City on December 26, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Helen Smith Schmude.

She was a 1942 graduate of Cranberry High School.

Ruth enjoyed flowers, gardening, crocheting, reading, and was still active on her computer at the age of 100.

Ruth loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Ruth enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach with her longtime companion during the winter months.

She was a member of the Fox Street Church of God.

She was married to William J. Blair in 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1981.

Surviving are six children, Alan Blair of Johnson City, TN, Robert J. Blair of Tillamook, OR, Marsha Kidkadden and her husband Richard, Gregg Blair and his wife Cathy of Franklin, Teresa Viele of Cochranton, Denise Mahoney and her husband Tom of Frewsburg, NY; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son Glenn Blair and five siblings, William Schmude, Robert Schmude, Lois Swartzfager, Jeane Swartzfager, and Sandy Hinebaugh.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. Saturday.

A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chad Troup of Fox Street Church of God, officiating.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Knox Union Cemetery.
