Barbara Ann Pfendler

Barbara Ann Pfendler, 86, of Vowinckel, peacefully passed away in the presence of loved ones Sunday evening, April 7, 2024 at Snyder Memorial Health Care Center in Marienville, after a period of declining health.

She was born on March 21, 1938 in Marble to the late Carl and Agnes Donahue Siegel.

After graduating from Keystone High School, Barbara went on to study nursing at St. Vincent School of Nursing in Erie.

Following graduation, she embarked on a career as a Registered Nurse, serving in various hospitals, as well as the Clarion Visiting Nurses, Clarion County Career Center, and the American Red Cross.

Additionally, she dedicated herself to nursing education as an instructor.

In 1960, Barbara married Winfield F. Lutz, with whom she welcomed their son, Winfield G. Lutz.

Following the passing of her first husband, she found love again in Louis J. Pfendler.

The two married in 1978 and enjoyed 37 years of happiness together until Lou’s passing in 2015.

Now that Barbara has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Barbara’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her.

She joins her parents and spouses in Heaven.

Barbara is survived by her son, Winfield G. Lutz and his wife, Sandy, of Crown; her grandchildren, Lauren and Landon Lutz, also of Crown; her siblings, Agnes Bauer of Leeper, Louise Fiscus, Bernice Strauser, and Beatrice Lauffer and her husband, Jack, all of Shippenville, and Kathy Wagner and her husband, Lew, of Clarion; and a sister-in-law, Betty Siegel of Leeper.

In addition to her parents and both spouses, Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers, Francis Siegel, Carl Siegel, and John Siegel; a sister, Mary Reese; and her brothers-in-law, Glenn Reese, Fred Fiscus, Bob Strausser, and Gerard Bauer.

The family expresses gratitude to the staff at Snyder Memorial Health Care Center for their ongoing dedication to Barbara’s care.

Family and friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion.
