Clyde Mario Salandra

Clyde Mario Salandra, age 85 a lifelong Brockway, PA resident, currently a resident of Williamsville, NY; died on Monday, April 29, 2024, at the Millard Filmore Suburban Hospital.

Born on July 28, 1938, in Brockway, he was the son of the late Octavius and Angelina Mastri Salandra.

On May 18, 1968, he was married to Carol Ann Meyer and she survives.

Retired, Clyde was part of a family business, O. Salandra and Sons Inc. which provided Industrial Contracting and Painting Services on a large scale.

He is a member at St. Tobias Church in Brockway.

Clyde was a U.S. Army Veteran and was stationed in Germany as an Office Clerk.

Clyde served as President of the Brockway Area Ambulance for many years, served on the Jefferson County Planning Commission, was a member of the Brockway Athletic Association, the Clarion Wrestling “Pin” Club, the Little League organization, and was actively involved in the Brockway Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration.

Clyde was known across the state for his love of tennis and enjoyed playing it most of his life including many years coaching youth tennis for Brockway Area High School and Central Christian High School.

,Clyde also enjoyed photography, videography, leather crafting, attending sports games of all kinds, and everything his children and grandchildren were involved in.

Clyde was the ultimate fan.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a daughter Ann (Donald) Boyd of Williamsville, NY; two sons Nicholas Salandra of Newport Beach, CA and Joseph (Rebekah) Salandra of Coraopolis, PA; two sisters Clementine “Dena” Heglas of North Kensington, MD and Maria Dickstein of Miami, FL; two brothers Donald (Karen) Salandra and Anthony (Kay) Salandra both of Brockway; grandchildren Aidan Boyd, Mia Boyd, Luca Salandra, and Kristopher Salandra.

Clyde is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by brothers Alphonso, Cesare, and John Salandra.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 3 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 4 at 11:00 AM at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with Fr. John Detisch and Monsignor Kaza presiding.

Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery.

Full Military Honors will be accorded by Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion Saturday morning at the cemetery.
