Attempted Homicide Suspect Still on the Lam

OIL CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police are continuing to search for a suspect involved in a shooting incident that occurred on Shamburg Road in Oil Creek Township, Venango County, on May 1.

According to PSP Franklin, the incident took place on the evening of Wednesday, May 1, 2024, and authorities have identified the suspect as 31-year-old Anthony Martinez Young, of Pleasantville.

State Police Community Services Officer Todd Bingman confirmed to exploreVenango.com that Young is still on the run as of Thursday morning, May 9.

Troopers were called to the scene around 6:41 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, after reports of gunfire.

According to a witness, an altercation took place between one of the neighbors and the driver of a gold-colored four-door car. The driver, who has since been identified as Young, allegedly exited his vehicle, a 2007 Ford Fusion with Pennsylvania registration MJG4251, approached the victim, Jerimiah Christopher Chavis, and fired three shots.

Chavis, a 30-year-old resident of Pleasantville, survived the incident. There is no word on his current condition.

Following the shooting, Young is reported to have immediately fled the scene in his vehicle, heading toward State Route 227.

The Pennsylvania State Police have charged Young with multiple offenses, including Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Firearms Not to Be Carried Without a License, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Criminal Mischief. An arrest warrant has been issued.

Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding this crime or Young’s whereabouts to contact the Franklin station at 814-676-6596 and ask for Trooper Adam Haun. The public is cautioned not to approach the suspect as he is considered armed and dangerous.
