Gary W. Heitzenrater, age 75, of DuBois, PA, died Monday, April 22, 2024, at the H. John Heinz III Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA.
Born on July 9, 1948, in Panic, PA, he was the son of the late Donald and Shirley (Guthrie) Heitzenrater.
Gary was a veteran of the United States Navy.
On December 16, 1972, he married Linda L. (Yonkie) Heitzenrater. She preceded him in death on April 18, 2019.
He retired from Keystone Carbon in St. Marys after 30 years of service.
Gary was a member of First Baptist Church in DuBois, PA.
He loved to mow his grass, his beagles “Brownie” and “Boone”, and spend time with his grandson.
Gary is survived by one daughter (Sherry Heitzenrater of DuBois, PA), two sons (John Heitzenrater of
Weedville, PA and Gary Heitzenrater II and his wife Katie of Clarksville, TN), one grandson (Mason Morris
of DuBois, PA), and one brother (Ralph Heitzenrater of Washington).
He was preceded in death by three sisters (Donna, Debbie and Carolyn).
There will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 11 AM from the First Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Montgomery officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the church.
