James R. Bowen

James R. Bowen, 98, of Franklin, passed away at 2:50 A.M., Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born in Tylersburg, Clarion County on August 22, 1925, he was the son of the late Clyde James and Violet Roddy Bowen.

Mr. Bowen was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School and worked a number of years as a Service Manager at Griffen Motors.

He enjoyed camping with family for many years in Mercer, Knox, Junction 1980, and RV Village.

He also enjoyed hunting and traveling each year to Myrtle Beach with his late wife.

He was the oldest member of the Franklin Elks Lodge #110 where he was an active member for over 75 years.

He was still attending lodge meetings even within the last six months.

He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin.

On October 22, 1946, he married the former Patricia Ferringer at First United Methodist Church in Franklin and she preceded him in death on July 30, 2017.

Surviving are four children: Debra Long and her husband Don of Mechanicsville, VA, Barbara Rosenberger and her husband Randall of Corvallis, OR, James Bowen Jr. and his wife Laurie of Franklin, and Marcia Esposito of Fisher, IN; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchild.

He is also survived by his beloved dog, Jake.

There will no visitation.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday at Franklin Cemetery with Pastor Connie Hoeke, of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Members of Franklin Elks Lodge #110 will hold services for their departed member at Franklin Cemetery on Friday at the conclusion of the funeral service.
