Harold “Curly” Smith

Harold “Curly” Smith, age 100 of Caledonia, died September 28, 2021 at Pinecrest Manor after a short illness.

A son of the late George H. and Hattie (Timblin) Smith, he was born on February 11, 1921 in Tyler, PA.

On August 1, 1942 he married Carolyn M. (Huff), who predeceased him only one week before his passing.

Beside his parents and his wife, Curly was predeceased by: his step-father, Edward Silvis; one sister, Velma Benn; four brothers, Leonard, Francis, Elmer and Richard Smith; a half-sister, Twila Pearson; and a son-in-law, Gerald Luchini.

Curly is survived by: four children, George (Judy Bobenreith) Smith of Clearfield, Gary (Barbara Park) Smith of West Decatur, Jill (Robert) Tyler of Byrnedale and Joan Luchini of Weedville; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and three sisters, Luella Wolff of DuBois, Jennie Turner of New Enterprise, and June Craft of Amherst, NY.

Curly worked as a coal miner, was associated with the Civilian Conservation Corps and served as a Forest Fire Warden.

Active in his community, he volunteered his time to deliver meals to individuals who are homebound for more than fifteen years.

He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, watching old western movies and sports and following the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home of Penfield, PA.

Funeral Services for Harold “Curly” Smith and his wife, Carolyn M. (Huff) Smith will be held, 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home of Penfield, PA with Ginger Gardner.

Interment will take place in the Mt. Zion Cemetery of Weedville, PA.
