Staff Member Assaulted at George Junior Republic

PINE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Mercer-based State Police say an investigation is underway after a juvenile reportedly assaulted a staff member at George Junior Republic.

Police say around 8:42 p.m. on September 20, they were contacted by George Junior Republic- an all-boys institution for at-risk youth located on George Junior Road in Pine Township, Mercer County – regarding an assault of a staff member at the facility.

According to police, further investigation at the scene determined that a 14-year-old male from Grove City had assaulted a 57-year-old male staff member from Grove City.

The staff member reportedly sustained a head injury and was transported via ambulance from the scene.

Police say charges of aggravated assault are pending through Mercer County Juvenile Probation.
