William Eugene Taylor

William Eugene Taylor, 84, passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2021.

Bill was born on August 11, 1937, to Thomas and Frances Aldeane (Witherow) Taylor in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

He attended Punxsutawney Area High School, class of 1955. Bill began his career in the retail grocery business immediately upon graduation.

Bill managed, owned and franchised various grocery stores. His last was a convenience store which he ran for approximately 24 years before his retirement in 2012.

Bill was a NASCAR fan and over the course of his life was able to attend races throughout the east.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and spent as much time as possible at his camp in Punxsutawney.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John, Tom and David.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy Marie (Clark), daughter, Lisa Earll, son, Thomas and grandson, Jeffrey Earll of Erie, PA, sisters, Elizabeth “Ann” Villella (Lester), Diana Blair (Clifford), sisters-in-law, Ann Harken, of Spartanburg, SC, Carol Taylor, of Meadville, PA, and Dena Taylor, of Punxsutawney, PA and many nieces and nephews.

Bill could be a tough but fair boss. But he was the most generous individual who would help anyone out in their time of need. As his grandson referred to him, “he was the people’s champ”.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at UMPC Hamot for the kindness and compassion.

Services will be private at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. The Kloecker Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
