Melba Dianne Rugh

Melba Dianne Rugh, 85, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022 at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born September 8, 1936 to Arnold and Anna Mae (Reiner) Yount in Punxsutawney.

Dianne was an active member of the Scotland Avenue Church of God, where she played the piano and organ, taught Sunday school, was a lay speaker, and a former director of the church choir.

Dianne was a 1954 graduate of the Punxsutawney Area High School.

She enjoyed crocheting, writing songs, poems, and entertaining her family.

She loved her family, friends and church.

She is survived by her husband Homer G. Rugh, whom she married November 19, 1955.

Together they enjoyed 66 years of marriage, a daughter, Cheryl L. Vallies and husband Gary, Punxsutawney, two granddaughters, Nikki Perrin and husband Jason, Punxsutawney and Dianna Vallies, Indiana, a great granddaughter Revy Perrin and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Mamie Yount, infant daughter Anne Christine Rugh, two sisters, Joyce Reitz and Emogene Robinson, a step sister, Elaine Mikelonis and a step-brother Bob Klingensmith.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 3-6 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

Friends will also be received on Thursday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Scotland Avenue Church of God, 1263 Scotland Ave. Extension, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
