Martha Ellen Beckman

Martha Ellen Beckman, 89, of Punxsutawney, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Mulberry Square.

She was born on June 24, 1932, in Reynoldsville the daughter of late William and Caroline (Day) Miller.

On April 22, 1956, she married Leonel Elmer Beckman, who preceded her in death on August 14, 1992.

Retired, Martha work as a lunch aid at Parkview Elementary School for many years.

She adored her coworkers and the school children.

When her children were in school Martha was a member of the PTA.

Martha attended Assembly of God Church in Anita.

She had previously attended and worked the Elim Church in Anita until its closing.

She cherished her grandchildren.

She enjoyed playing cards with them, particularly the game of Rummy.

Martha was sharp as a tack and talked to her family often on the telephone, keeping tabs on her family was important to her.

She also enjoyed reading and walking.

Collecting ceramic birds was her fancy and she had an extensive collection.

Martha is survived by her three children, Susan Cavanaugh and her husband Rob of Homosassa, FL, David Beckman and his wife Dalene of Punxsutawney and Daniel Beckman and his wife Thelma of South Carolina; four grandchildren: Nicole Bouscal and husband TY of South Carolina, Shane Beckman of North Carolina, Kate Doverspike and husband Steve of Dayton and Jessica Robertson and husband Glenn of Reynoldsville; six great grandchildren: Riley and Stevie Doverspike, Ruth, Brody and Porter Kolash, and Milena Bouscal; and a sister, Helen Scheetz and her husband Ron of Homosassa, FL.

In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded by two brothers, Paul Miller and William Miller.

Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Harold Haight.

Burial will be in Anita Community Cemetery.
