Wayne B. Combs, 87, of Punxsutawney, died Monday, May 29, 2023, at Mulberry Square.
He was born June 27, 1935, in Bean Settlement, West Virginia, a son of the late Elsie F. (Combs) Bush and Roy Wilson.
On October 24, 1961, he married Shirley Jean (Blose) Combs, who survives.
Wayne was a workaholic.
He worked a truck driver for Doverspike Coal Company, Barret Trucking and Shreckengost Trucking.
Wayne ran dozer for the Doverspike’s for twelve years and served as a supervisor for Perry Township.
His last job was hauling a logging crew for Blose Logging.
Wayne was always on the go.
He enjoyed mowing his yard and working outside.
He liked to tinker with his cub cadet tractors, drive around and visit with his buddies and enjoyed watching westerns on television, especially Gunsmoke.
In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by three children, son Robert Powell and wife Jacqueline “Toot” of Punxsutawney, daughter LaDonna Rudolph and husband Jeff of Punxsutawney, and daughter Bonnie Farster and husband Craig of Brookville; ten grandchildren, Fred Griffith and wife Brandy, Wayne Griffith, Brook Griffith and wife Tammy, Amber Brocious and husband Brad, Anteisha Stahlman and husband Scott, Jeb Powell, Dustin Rudolph and wife Misty, Cheri Curry and husband Josh, Sheena Brown and husband Garrison and Benjamin Martz and wife Tara; twenty-three great-grandchildren, Austin, Holden and Sydney Griffith, Jett Brocious, Parker and Nolan Stahlman, Austin Adkins, Christian and Troy Rudolph, Cooper Curry, Lillian Moate, Dakota Peters, Gracie Cary, Caylin, Aurora and Temperance Brown, Daisha, Landyn, Onyx and Luna Martz, Liam Martz, and Liam and Ava Covert; and a brother Leonard Bush and wife Kay of New York.
A private service will be held for Wayne on Thursday.
Interment will be at Ebenezer Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
