James R. Maloney

James R. Maloney, 72, of Mercer, formerly of Franklin, passed away at Brighton Rehabilitation in Beaver on Saturday, April 13, 2024 after an extended illness.

Born in Franklin on February 1, 1952, he was the son of the late William E. and Erene E. DeLong Maloney.

He was a 1971 graduate of Rocky Grove High School.

Jim had a passion for sports, particularly playing horseshoes and participating in numerous horseshoe competitions.

An avid reader, he amassed an extensive collection of books, spanning various genres.

Jim also found joy in playing board games and marbles.

He was a very knowledgeable man.

Surviving are four siblings, Wilma Johnson of Franklin, Edith Stanley of Florida, Bill Maloney of Franklin, Mary Eakman of Mercer, and several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Robert DeLong Sr.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. Thursday.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow Friday morning at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
