Ernest J. Sheesley

Ernest J. Sheesley, 71, of Hamilton, passed away Thursday, April 18th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Ernie was born on May 12, 1952, in Punxsutawney, the son of the late Marjorie L. (Richards) and Elmer R. Sheesley.

On September 30, 1978, he married his wife Billie who has loved him every day since she was thirteen and spent every second of their lives together making sure he knew just how much he was loved.

They saw each other through a liver transplant, cancer, and all the other obstacles life brings with love and compassion.

Their marriage is not defined by the illnesses they faced together, but by the light and joy they have always brought to the world.

He is also survived by his daughter Megan.

To her, he was a father, a coach, and an inspiration.

To grow up with a father like him was the greatest gift she could ever have been given.

Ernie loved his friends and family deeply.

He took pride in his role as a brother, an uncle, a cousin, and a teammate.

He was a man who showed that love by taking care of others and through the way he lived his life on a daily basis.

Everyone who knew his is better because of it.

He loved animals and is now reunited with his beloved dog, Max, who stood by his side for years.

Ernie loved the beach, going to hunting camp, visiting Gettysburg, and any opportunity to be with those he loved.

He was someone who made friends wherever he went, with a warm smile, and a welcoming heart.

Everything he did, he did for others.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Punxsutawney Area Hospital Foundation, 81 Hillcrest Drive Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

They are grateful for the care and compassion that the staff there showed him through his final illness.

There will be no memorial service.

Please honor him through your actions by doing something to help somebody else, just like he would have done.
