Daniel Vincent Milton, III

Daniel Vincent Milton, III, 84, of Punxsutawney, PA died Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born April 13, 1940, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Dolores (O’Connor) and Daniel Vincent Milton, Jr.

Daniel was married to the love of his life, Barbara Ann, who preceded him in death on October 6, 2023.

He adored Barbara and often said she was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Daniel’s work ethic was unparalleled.

He was a graduate of the Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, worked at the US Post Office, and served in the United States Army.

It was after his time in the military that Daniel became a Pennsylvania State Policeman—the career that most defined him.

While working full-time as a trooper, Dan earned his BA from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and somehow found the time to learn how to fly airplanes.

He also owned and operated a small business called Plaza Carpets, taught criminology at IUP, and eventually worked as a special agent for the Federal Department of Transportation.

He ended his working career as a consultant for the trucking industry.

Dan was never afraid to work hard and was an incredible role model to his children and grandchildren.

Once retired, Dan was active in the Knights of Columbus.

He was also an avid golfer and belonged to the Punxsutawney Country Club where he was a patient golf instructor to his children and grandchildren.

Few things gave him as much joy as playing a round of golf with them.

Dan was also a devoted and compassionate caregiver to his beloved wife, Barbara, when she was alive.

They had 58 wonderful years together.

Daniel was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Church of Punxsutawney.
