Joseph E. Michele, a distinguished Vietnam Veteran of the US Navy, passed away on May 1, 2024, in his hometown of Punxsutawney.
He was born on June 24, 1942, to the late Joseph P. and Ednora (Guignet) Michele.
In addition to his military contributions, Joseph was a devoted family man.
He is survived by his son, Joseph P. Michele, and wife Krisha of Indiana; and daughter, Lisa C. Yates, and husband Randy of Texas; six grandchildren: Cristi (Greg) Olechovski, Chase Kyle, Savanna (Mason) Frumkin, Kaitlin Kyle, Lexi Michele, and Cassie Michele, who meant the world to him.
He is also survived by his sister, Carol Berger, and husband Richard of Ohio; and nieces, Tracy and Shelly.
Joseph’s love for his family was evident in every moment spent together and in every memory created.
Among those who preceded Joseph in death are his Uncle John Michele and Aunt Lucy Cararie.
Services are private and have been entrusted to McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
Interment will take place at Circle Hill Cemetery.
Military Honors will be provided by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard.
