Dawn Marie May

Dawn Marie May, 55, passed away at home of natural causes on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Born in Oil City on July 4, 1968, Dawn was the beloved daughter of Karen Weaver May and the late Charles T. May Sr.

Dawn spent her early years at home, her teen years at Polk Center, and then transitioned to the Easter Seals residential program at 18.

For 37 years, the Easter Seals staff has taken wonderful care of Dawn Marie and loved her like family.

Dawn’s family will forever be grateful for all she experienced with Easter Seals.

Dawn attended Oil City schools, but never worked a day in her life!

Dawn’s days were filled with puzzles, van rides, games, cart rides at VARHA with her favorite horse Lily, participating in the day programs at VTDC, as well as at Tracy Jo’s Personal Care Home, and endless love from all who knew her.

Dawn was a joy to be around and an incredibly sweet girl but also had a sassy side that made everyone around her laugh.

Dawn loved eating, music, checking out bearded boys, and keeping tabs on her housemates, especially Johnny.

Dawn is survived by her mother, Karen, and sister-in-law, Jaclyn Faunce May, of Oil City.

Dawn is also survived by her aunts, Jenny Hall, Betty Lee Weaver, Kathy Weaver, and numerous cousins and friends.

Dawn was greeted in Heaven by her father, Charles Sr, her little brother, Charles Jr, all of her grandparents, her uncles, Roger Weaver, Ronald Weaver, Art Bacher, and her uncle/favorite person, Sherman ‘Sherm’ Hall, who shared a special bond with Dawn Marie.

Dawn’s family would also like to thank the staff of VNA Hospice for the kind and compassionate care she received during her final days.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday May 16th at 2:00 P.M. in the Reinsel Funeral Home with Father Miller officiating.

There will be an hour to visit, view photos, and share Dawn stories before the service.

Dawn’s ashes will be interred at Calvary Cemetery in Oil City, next to her father.

Memorials may be made to VARHA, 150 Wagner Dr. Franklin, PA. 16323 or Easter Seals of Western & Central PA, Six Parkway Center Suite 150, 875 Greentree Rd Pittsburgh, PA. 15220
