Student Charged with Aggravated Assault Following Altercation with Classmate

HOMER CITY, Pa. – Troopers are investigating a physical altercation involving two 17-year-old male students that occurred Wednesday.

Police say the altercation occurred at approximately 11:05 a.m. at Homer-Center Junior/Senior High School, 70 Wildcat Ln., Center Twp., Indiana Co.

On March 3, 2021 at approximately 11:15 a.m., Indiana-based State Police were dispatched to Homer-Center Junior/Senior High School to investigate an assault involving two students.

According to police, upon investigation, troopers learned that the two students, both of Homer-Center School District, were involved in a physical altercation that occurred on the patio area outside the main entrance to the Homer-Center Junior/Senior High School. The altercation occurred as they were preparing to enter the school after getting off of a school bus.

Police say one of the male juveniles sustained suspected serious injuries after he was repeatedly punched and kicked by the other male juvenile. The victim was treated at the scene by Homer-Center School District and Citizens’ Ambulance Service personnel. He was then flown to Allegheny General Hospital for further treatment and was last known to be in stable condition.

Upon conducting interviews, reviewing surveillance video, and consultation with Indiana County District Attorney Robert F. Manzi, Jr., police say the other male student was placed under arrest and was charged via written allegation with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, and Harassment. He was then released into the custody of the Indiana County Juvenile Probation Department and was placed at Summit Academy, Herman, PA.
