Couple Busted in Punxsutawney for Possession of Meth

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Two people are facing felony drug charges after being recently caught in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine in Punxsutawney.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 33-year-old Callie J. Craft, of Punxsutawney, and 34-year-old Tracey James Rhoads, currently lodged at SCI Huntington.

According to a criminal complaint, around 9:37 a.m. on February 17, Punxsutawney Borough Police were contacted by State Parole Agents and Members of the U.S. Marshals to respond to a residence on Railroad Street seeking Tracey Rhoads on a parole violation.

When police arrived at the scene, they were informed that Rhoads was in custody and his girlfriend, Callie Craft, was in the upstairs bedroom of the residence with a parole agent.

The complaint notes police were informed that Rhoads was located in the right front bedroom on the second floor, and when agents went to the bedroom, they found him with Craft, and observed a line of white powder on the nightstand. Craft told the agents the powder was methamphetamine.

According to the complaint, Craft told the agents she and Rhoads were in Altoona the previous night, and “items” were placed in a safe next to the bed.

Police then requested and were granted a search warrant for the residence.

The search was performed around 10:54 a.m. and allegedly discovered a large amount of methamphetamine, as well as drug paraphernalia, in the defendants’ bedroom.

Chief Conrad of the Punxsutawney Borough Police was also able to obtain from Craft the combination to a digital safe in the room. The safe contained Craft’s Social Security card, a used blue glass pipe, a large bundle of small clear plastic baggies, and a large bundle of green plastic baggies with bunnies on them. It also contained a bundle of red plastic baggies with bunnies on them and four baggies containing methamphetamine residue, according to the complaint.

Police also found a container full of small multi-colored rubber bands matching those used on the separate baggies of methamphetamine that were packaged for sale. Other items found in the safe included a silver scale and a gram weight set, the complaint indicates.

A pink bag was found hanging on the wall above the nightstand, and it was found to contain a wallet with Rhoads identification, as well as a purple case with two syringes, a clear baggie marked 2.50 grams, and two baggies marked one gram. The total weight of methamphetamine found in the case was 6.5 grams, the complaint states.

Police also found a green purse on the bed that contained a wallet with Craft’s driver’s license, bank card, and medical cards. The wallet also contained three baggies of methamphetamine residue along with $1,386.00 cash. Inside the purse, police also found notepaper in a clip with writing regarding amounts and grams as well as locations in Pittsburgh and Ohio, the complaint indicates.

A black case was found in the green purse that contained three green bunny baggies marked .5 grams, one bundle of red bunny baggies, three red bunny baggies continuing residue, a clear baggie marked 2.73 grams, a red bunny baggie marked one gram, a clear baggie marked 1.52 grams, a clear baggie marked 6 grams, and a clear baggie marked 1.51 grams. A total of 14.26 grams of methamphetamine was found in the case, the complaint notes. Other items found in the case included three empty baggies, a green and yellow spoon, a used purple and yellow pipe, three glass tube pipes, and one silver pipe pick, according to the complaint.

Additional items were also found inside the bedroom, including three scales, a prescription bottle containing 21 Acetaminophen (not prescribed to either defendant), a Motorola Cricket cell phone belonging to Craft, a black LG cell phone belonging to Rhoads, and a black LG cell phone belonging to Craft, the complaint continues.

Police also requested and were granted a search warrant for the seized phones.

According to the complaint, a data extraction performed on the Cricket phone belonging to Craft found several text messages involving the defendants delivering a controlled substance.

Craft was then interviewed on February 17.

Craft allegedly told police that Rhoads “wanted to become a big-time drug dealer, but she was not interested in that lifestyle.” She went on to say she had no idea how the black case got into her purse as she knew Rhoads put everything in the safe.
