Joseph “Joe” Holben

Joseph “Joe” Holben, 77, of Brookville, died Friday evening, March 25, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Butler on August 6, 1944, he was the son of the late Merle Holben and Della Walls Holben Hanford.

He attended Brookville Schools and was of the Methodist faith.

On October 29, 1966 in Hazen, he married the former Shirley Moore. She survives.

He retired in May of 2006 after being a lifelong self employed Dairy Farmer.

His hobbies include collecting toy farm equipment, John Deere tractors and a 1956 Ford Crown Car.

Those surviving in addition to his wife, Shirley; are his sons, Joe Holben Jr., Scott (Michelle) Holben, Toby Holben and Merle “Ben” Holben; his daughter, Lannette (Jeff) Welsh; his grandchildren, Teara and Nicholas Welsh and Trent, Brooke and Cort Holben; his brothers, George Holben, Dave (Mamie) Holben and Jeff (Rita) Wolfe; his sisters, Valerie (Jeff) Simon, Judy Bylerly and Jane Clark; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step father, Arthur Hanford and his brothers, Charles, Donnie and Ronald Holben.

His family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 from 2:30-4:30PM at Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, Pa.

A funeral service will follow at 4:30PM at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Ray Baker, officiating.
