Alton L. Knapp

Alton L. Knapp, age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2022, at his home in Knox Township.

Alton was born to the late Arthur and Marie Knapp on November 5, 1933.

On January 29, 1955, Alton married Lottie (Allshouse) Knapp in Summerville whom he loved with every ounce of his heart.

She preceded him in death after 63 years of marriage in 2018.

He began his career as a coal truck driver, later worked many years as a mechanic at Brookville Equipment, was employed at Brookville Wood Products, and eventually retired from Bobby Cole Company.

Alton liked the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and gardening.

He took pride in his lawn and garden keeping and had a passion for John Deere Tractors.

Alton was a quiet, patient man who also stood firm in his beliefs and had a fun and lovable sense of humor.

He enjoyed good company and hosting 4th of July gatherings at his home.

Alton lived a long life that left lasting impressions on everyone who knew him.

He was hard not to love and will be easy to miss.

Alton is survived by his children: Judy Zellonis of Brookville, Pa., Tammy (Jerry) Bullers of Brookville, Pa., Terry (Sandy) Knapp of Corsica, Pa.; five grandchildren: Robert (Sally) Zellonis, Angela (Sam) Walter, Eric Zellonis, Tanya (Dan) Eberts, Kimberly (Sean) Catalano; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Martha (Bill) Procious.

In addition to his parents and wife, Alton was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Harold, Chester, and Homer Knapp; a sister, Evelyn Thomas; a son, Jeffrey Knapp, a granddaughter, Kayla Bullers; and a son in law, Donald Zellonis.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, May 16, 2022, from 6pm to 8pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825.

An additional viewing will take place on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, also at the funeral home, from 9am to 11am.

A funeral service will take place immediately following the viewing, beginning at 11am and led by Alton’s grandaughter, Kim Catalano and Pastor Joni Williams.

Interment will take place at Ramsaytown Cemetery, Ramsaytown, Jefferson Co., PA.
