William T. “Bill” Brion

William T. “Bill” Brion, 81, of Clearfield and formerly of Curwensville and Treasure Lake, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Christ the King Manor, DuBois, after a short illness.

Mr. Brion was born November 22, 1940 in Clearfield, the son of the late Maurice “Lefty” and Helen Theo (Martin) Brion.

A 1958 graduate of Clearfield Area High School, Mr. Brion joined the U.S. Army Reserves while still a senior.

After graduation he then served six months at Fort Knox, KY, then an additional five years in the Army Reserves.

Just prior to his 19th birthday in 1959 he became a lineman for Penelec.

He then worked for Penelec for 37 years, eventually retiring as a District Customer Service Manager.

Additionally, Mr. Brion was a firefighter and a lifetime member of the Clearfield Fire Department and also a member of the West Side United Methodist Church.

Mr. Brion was also a member of several organizations and boards over the years, including the Lions Club, Clearfield County Industrial Development Authority, the Clearfield County Planning Commission and Allegheny Hardwood Utilization Group Inc.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Brion was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 30 years, Karen (nee Kenyon) Learish Brion, whom he married in 1990 and who passed away April 7, 2020 and a sister, Barbara Ann Conaway of Clearfield who passed away on October 21, 2021.

William is survived by his three sons: William “Scott” and his wife Joyce of Curwensville, Stephen and his wife Melissa of Clearfield and Robert and his wife Wendy of Erhard; four step-children: Kevin Learish and his wife Glenda of Bethlehem, Randy Learish and his wife Lisa of Oregon, WI, Kelly Faglioni and her husband Mark of Richmond, VA and Sean Learish and his wife Dianne of Wexford; fourteen grandchildren: Daniel, Nathan and Janell Brion, Tiffany Robison, Lane Sharon, Samantha and Nicholas Pope, Benjamin, Christopher, Acacia, Jenna and Ella Learish and Tyler and Mitchell Faglioni; three great-grandchildren: Zachery Robison and Grant and Kelton Brion and four siblings: Patricia Lou O’Brien of Orlando, FL, John Maurice Brion of Rehoboth, DE. Sandra Lee Brion of Niagara Falls, NY and Linda Sue Cagle of Perrysburgh, OH.

Honoring the request of Mr. Brion there will be no visitation or service.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the West Side United Methodist Church, 317 Nichols St., Clearfield, PA 16830 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
