John R. Curry

John R. Curry, 65, of Sprankle Mills, died Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born December 31, 1956, in Punxsutawney a son of the late Sara M. (Means) and Ralston Curry.

On October 15, 1977, he married the late Abby E. Curry, who preceded him in death on April 19, 2021.

John was a member of St. Johns Reformed Church of Punxsutawney.

He was a graduate of the Punxsutawney High School.

He worked at FAMCO for over forty-five years.

John was a member of the Oliver Township Volunteer Fire Company and served as their Safety Officer.

He was one of the fire companies’ top responders for the year of 2022.

John enjoyed camping, having campfires with their friends and family at their house, NASCAR and Dirt Track racing, rides in his mustang, tinkering in his garage and spending time with his family and grandsons.

John is survived by three children, son Matthew Curry and wife Kathy of Punxsutawney, son Adam Curry and wife Hallie Truitt of Dora and daughter Elana McFadden and husband Brandin of Punxsutawney; two grandchildren, Ethan Curry and Elliot Curry; siblings a sister Becky Halberg; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother Tom Curry.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A private funeral service will be held immediately following visitation.

Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
