Area Woman Accused of Endangering Young Child in DUI Crash

RIDGWAY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — An area woman is accused of driving under the influence while she crashed her vehicle with a four-year-old passenger.

According to a release issued by PSP Ridgway on Tuesday, March 6, troopers were dispatched to a crash that occurred near Ridgway Saint Marys Road and Bridge Street, in Ridgway Township, Elk County.

Police say it was determined that a known 29-year-old Ridgway woman failed to yield to the westbound traffic and subsequently caused the crash.

Throughout the investigation, it was determined that the driver and her four-year-old passenger were not restrained within the vehicle.

After a further interview with the driver, she was suspected to be driving under the influence, police said.

The driver was transported to Penn Highlands Elk where she failed to submit to a chemical test. A search warrant was subsequently completed, which yielded a BAC of .235, according to police.

The known female faces charges for endangering the welfare of children, DUI general impairment, DUI highest rate, Recklessly endangering another person, and
numerous Title 75 violations.

The suspect’s name was not released.
