Community Rallies Around Amish Family with Overwhelming Support Through GoFundMe Campaign

SPARTANSBURG, Pa. (EYT) — A GoFundMe campaign benefiting Andy Byler and his two young children, following the murder of his wife, Rebekah Byler, and the couple’s unborn baby, is getting close to reaching its goal.

The campaign was launched by Kelsey Bova, an employee at her father’s Spartansburg hardware store, Bova’s Hardware, a long-time friend of both sides of Byler’s family.

“Everybody has been really positive,” shared Bova. “Those who write messages on the campaign say they’re praying for the family and they’re glad to be able to do something to help out.”

With contributions pouring in from across the country, the campaign has already amassed over $27,000, a testament to the widespread impact of this tragedy.

Bova’s initiative seeks to alleviate the financial burdens faced by Andy Byler, allowing him to focus on healing and caring for his children during this time of unimaginable loss.

The campaign’s goals are ambitious and deeply touching, aiming to clear Andy’s debts, including $14,000 owed to Northwest Savings Bank, $7,900 to Greenville Bank, and $13,000 to ALCO Metals.

“People are also donating by mailing in checks to Andy,” explained Bova. “Some people didn’t feel comfortable donating online, so we set it up so checks can be sent into the hardware store’s post office box.”

“Every time we talk to Andy, he’s awe-struck at how many people are donating and sending sympathy cards. There are people from all over the country sending him cards. It’s just really amazing to see that outpouring of love and support,” Bova added.

Donations can be made on the GoFundMe campaign page, or by mailing checks made out to Andy Byler to Bova’s Hardware at P.O. Box 207, Spartansburg, PA 16434-0207.
