James E. “Jim” Reid, 81, of Clarion, passed away Wednesday morning April 17, 2024, at Highland Oaks at Water Run in Clarion.
He was born on June 24, 1942, in Clarion; son of the late Orlan and Alice Sterrett Reid.
Jim married the former Sherry J. Hilliard on July 26, 1968, who preceded him in death on March 29, 2020.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
He was also a member of the VFW Post #2145 and American Legion Post #066 both of Clarion.
Jim was a truck driver all of his life, driving for C&K Coal Company, PennDOT, Hager Paving, DGB Trucking, and Neiswonger Construction where he retired.
He was a member of the New Rehoboth-Greenville Presbyterian Church in Clarion.
Jim was an avid dirt track racing fan and enjoyed working on race cars and building model cars.
He is survived by his sons, Dan Reid and his wife, Michelle, of Strattanville, Stacy Reid and his wife, Lori, of Shanksville, Randy Reid and his wife, Pam, of Clarion, and Ricky Reid of Franklin; his grandchildren, Jacob Reid of Strattanville, Hannah Reid and her significant other, Ty Stockwell, of Berlin, Marissa Altmeyer and her husband, Aaron, of Erie, Ross Reid of Mercer, and Megan Reid of Clarion; a great granddaughter, Briella Stockwell of Berlin; and his brother, Robert Reid of Clarion.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Family and friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion where Military Honors will be accorded at 6:45 p.m. by the American Legion Post #066 of Clarion.
Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Mark Deeter presiding.
Interment will take place beside his wife in the Rimersburg Cemetery.
