Fremont James Dunlap Jr.

Fremont James Dunlap Jr. was born on December 31, 1936 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey to James Fremont and Lenora Dunlap.

A twin, he and his brother David rang in the New Year as the first of the family’s eight children.

Fremont later married Katherina Dunlap (neé Dobaj) and remained with her for 45 years until her passing.

A quiet man, he was devoted to his family.

Early in adulthood, Fremont enlisted in the U.S. Army.

Serving for over 20 years, he retired at the rank of Master Sergeant.

Dedicated to working in service to others, after retiring from the Army, he went around the world as a military and civil contractor in the energy sector.

His hobbies included traveling, animal keeping, dining out with friends, and going for long walks.

Fremont died peacefully in Pittsburgh on March 25, surrounded by loved ones.

He is survived by his companion Elsie Geraldine White, wife Katherina Dunlap (deceased), daughters Erika Stover (Snohomish, WA) and Stefanie Comes (deceased), and son Jimmey Dunlap (Mayport, PA). His grandchildren are Anthony McCombs (Snohomish,WA), Michelle and Christopher Brooks (Edgewood, MD), Monika and Wyatt Johnson (North Bend, WA), and Jessica and Edward Carney (Sparta, NJ). His great-grandchildren are Isabella Carney and Mackenzie and Paisley McCombs.

Viewings will be held on Thursday, March 28 from 10:00am – 12:00pm and 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Goble Funeral Home, 330 Wood Street, Clarion, PA.

The burial will take place on Friday, March 29 at 2:00pm at Harford Memorial Gardens, 3839 Aldino Rd, Aberdeen, MD 21001.
